President Donald Trump has announced a $15 billion defamation and libel lawsuit against the New York Times, accusing the publication of years of false reporting targeting him, his family, and his political movement. The legal action was disclosed on Truth Social, where Trump described the newspaper as “one of the worst and most degenerate newspapers in the history of our country.”
Trump alleged that the New York Times has functioned as a “virtual mouthpiece” for the Radical Left Democrat Party, citing its endorsement of Kamala Harris as an unprecedented act of bias. He claimed the outlet has engaged in a decades-long campaign of lying about his business dealings, the America First Movement, and the MAGA agenda. The lawsuit, filed in Florida, follows recent reports linking Trump to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, which he has repeatedly dismissed as false.
The president also referenced previous legal victories against media outlets, including settlements with ABC/Disney and CBS/Paramount, alleging they used “a highly sophisticated system of document and visual alteration” to defame him. He vowed to hold the New York Times accountable for what he called a “malicious form of defamation” that has persisted for too long.
The lawsuit comes after Trump threatened legal action last week over the New York Times’ coverage of his ties to Epstein, including reports on a sexually suggestive note and drawing linked to the financier.
