FBI Director Kash Patel has stated that multiple suspects may be involved in the investigation surrounding the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, according to statements made during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
Patel addressed Senator John Kennedy’s inquiry about whether Tyler Robinson, the accused shooter, acted alone, emphasizing that the FBI’s probe is still in its early stages. He revealed that investigators are examining numerous individuals linked to Robinson’s activities, particularly within a Discord chat room. “We are very much in our ongoing posture of investigation,” Patel said, adding that “others could have been involved.”
The director further detailed that law enforcement has seized multiple electronic devices from Robinson’s Utah home and his romantic partner’s residence, including computers, laptops, gaming systems, and cell phones. Patel highlighted the agency’s focus on scrutinizing all communications involving Robinson, stating, “We are going to be interviewing scores of people… not just these chats on Discord.”
Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah resident, was identified as the suspect in Kirk’s fatal shooting at Utah Valley University. The FBI director referenced a text message exchange discovered during the investigation, in which Robinson allegedly expressed intent to target Kirk. “The evidence and information will come out,” Patel said on Fox News’ “Hannity.”
No charges have been formally filed against Robinson, and the state is handling the legal proceedings separately. The FBI continues its probe into potential additional individuals connected to the case.
