Democrat Senator John Fetterman criticized his party’s use of inflammatory language during an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier and Republican Senator Dave McCormick, accusing radical left figures of promoting dangerous rhetoric that could incite violence.
Fetterman warned against comparing individuals to Hitler, stating, “Do not ever, ever, ever compare anyone to Hitler.” He argued that such comparisons risk triggering violent responses, saying, “If you do, then you will incite somebody to say, well, now I feel like I have to stop, to stop that and take them out.”
The discussion centered on efforts to restore civility in politics following the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Fetterman emphasized the importance of bipartisan dialogue, noting the trauma of the event and the need for Americans to witness unity between parties. McCormick echoed concerns about political violence, calling fascist, Nazi, and authoritarian rhetoric incompatible with democratic values.
This marks the second time Fetterman has addressed his party’s tone since Kirk’s death, previously urging Democrats to “turn the temperature down.” His remarks position him as a lone voice advocating for restraint within the Democratic Party.
