Two Israeli lawmakers were expelled from the Knesset during President Donald Trump’s address after engaging in disruptive behavior. The incident occurred as Trump delivered a speech at Israel’s parliament, where he was generally met with positive reception. However, members of the left-leaning Hadash coalition, Ayman Odeh and Ofer Cassif, faced immediate removal for protesting.

Odeh, an Arab Israeli politician, and Cassif, a far-left figure, were ejected after shouting slogans and displaying signs advocating for Palestinian state recognition. Odeh held up a sign reading “Recognize Palestine” before being removed. He later posted on social media asserting that the international community supports Palestinian statehood, claiming, “There are two peoples here, and neither is going anywhere.” Cassif similarly criticized the Israeli government, accusing it of occupation and apartheid, and called for resistance against what he described as a “government of bloodshed.”

Trump’s speech highlighted his administration’s role in brokering a ceasefire agreement that led to the release of hostages taken by Hamas on October 7, 2023. He declared, “This long and difficult war has now ended,” though challenges remain in securing lasting peace. The Knesset largely applauded Trump, with only Odeh and Cassif’s actions drawing immediate disciplinary action.
