A 21-year-old semi-truck driver arrested after a multi-vehicle pile-up on the 10 freeway in Ontario, California, has been identified as an Indian illegal alien who entered the country under questionable circumstances. According to reports, Jashanpreet Singh is accused of causing a deadly crash that killed at least three people. Authorities allege he was speeding and under the influence of alcohol, failing to apply brakes before colliding with slow-moving traffic, triggering a chain reaction.
Witnesses described the collision as resembling an explosion, with Singh’s red truck reportedly barreling down the freeway without swerving or stopping. One witness, Jason Calmelat, recounted the horror of seeing the vehicle roll and veer into an embankment before catching fire. The three victims, whose identities remain undisclosed, were among four injured individuals, including Singh and a mechanic working on the side of the road.
Caltrans Highway Patrol Officer Rodrigo Jimenez emphasized the preventable nature of the crash, noting the presence of hazardous materials and the complexity of the investigation. A dash cam video from the truck, shared online, is being analyzed as part of the inquiry. Jimenez urged drivers to adhere to traffic laws, stating that “this tragedy would not have occurred” if all parties had exercised caution.
Singh, who was detained by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department on suspicion of DUI causing great bodily injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, remains in custody without formal charges. Federal sources confirmed he was apprehended at the California border in March 2022 under the Biden administration’s policies. The case continues to unfold as investigators reconstruct the incident and assess potential contributing factors.
