President Donald Trump will appear on “60 Minutes” for the first time since settling a lawsuit with CBS parent company Paramount over a 2024 interview involving then-Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. The interview, conducted by anchor Norah O’Donnell, is scheduled to air on Sunday and covers topics including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Venezuela, Israel, government shutdowns, immigration, and the National Guard.
The appearance marks Trump’s first 60 Minutes interview in five years and follows a $16 million settlement with Paramount, which did not include an apology. The deal ended a legal dispute over allegations that Harris’ 2024 interview was deceptively edited to favor her opponent. CBS News has since pledged to publish unredacted transcripts of presidential interviews and air unedited versions of major political discussions.
Trump praised Paramount CEO David Ellison and his father, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, during a recent conversation aboard Air Force One, calling them “great people” who “understand fairness.” The interview occurs amid leadership changes at CBS News, which recently appointed Weiss as editor-in-chief after Paramount’s acquisition by Skydance Media.
The sitdown represents Trump’s effort to re-engage with a major broadcast network he has long criticized as part of the “fake news media.”
