Chrysler has announced a recall of 320,065 hybrid Jeep Wranglers and Grand Cherokees due to potential fire risks. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that the high-voltage batteries in these plug-in hybrid SUVs could fail, posing a fire hazard whether the vehicle is parked or in motion.

The affected models include the Jeep Wrangler 4Xe for 2020-2025 and the Grand Cherokee 4Xe for 2022-2026. Owners are advised to park vehicles outdoors, away from structures, and avoid charging them until repairs are completed. A fix is under development but has not yet been specified for availability.

Chrysler parent company Stellantis stated in a statement to CBS News that a remedy will be provided soon, urging owners to refrain from recharging their vehicles as a precaution.

The recall follows similar actions by Ford, which issued a separate recall of 1.7 million vehicles, including models produced at its Kentucky plants. This marks the latest in a series of automotive safety concerns reported this year.
