A Florida State Seminoles football team member was shot Sunday night after the team’s surprising victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide, leaving freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard in critical but stable condition at a Tallahassee-area hospital.

Pritchard, who was visiting family in Havana, Florida, was injured while outside an apartment building during the incident. The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the shooting occurred Sunday night in Havana, approximately 16 miles from Tallahassee. An investigation is ongoing, with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement leading the effort. Authorities have urged anyone with information to contact FDLE or Investigator DeLeon at 850-627-9233.

Florida State coach Mike Norvell expressed concern during a Monday news conference, stating he visited Pritchard’s family Sunday night. “It’s an extremely tragic event for the young man,” Norvell said. “Grateful for the medical support he received. Our team, coaches, and family are here to support them.”

The shooting followed Florida State’s 31-17 win against No. 8 Alabama on Saturday, marking the Crimson Tide’s first non-conference regular-season road loss in 20 years. Pritchard did not participate in the game at Doak Campbell Stadium, where the Seminoles defeated the heavily favored opponent.
