Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, has been hit by a widespread power outage that began on Saturday night and has persisted for several hours.
Utility company Nukissiorfiit reported the incident was caused by an accident and confirmed it is working to restore electricity using emergency generators.
Greenland Police warned that the blackout may disrupt police phone lines, advising residents to visit their local police station for assistance if mobile services are also down.
The Greenland newspaper Sermitsiaq reported that parts of Nuuk had been without power for approximately half an hour at the time of publication, noting that authorities had issued guidance for residents to prepare for up to five days in the event of a prolonged outage.
