A Georgetown University professor has drawn widespread condemnation after his dismissive response to concerns about sexual assaults perpetrated by Muslim men in the United Kingdom.

Jonathan AC Brown, who holds the Chair of Islamic Civilization at Georgetown, recently deleted a post on X that read: “Get Over It” in reaction to British parliamentary discussions about the grooming and rape of young girls by groups identified as Muslim.

Critics described his response as callous, inflammatory, and deeply insensitive. The incident follows reports that sexual assault cases involving Muslim suspects in the UK have been underreported due to fears of being labeled racist.

Brown has a history of making controversial remarks. In 2017, he defended slavery and rape under Islamic doctrine. Last June, he called for Iran to conduct a symbolic strike on U.S. military bases following President Trump’s nuclear attacks on Iran. He also openly supported Hamas and claimed no Israeli women were raped during the October 7 attacks.

A Georgetown student has urged his removal from the university, stating he is “fundamentally at odds with Georgetown’s core values.” Shae McInnis, president of Georgetown’s College Republicans chapter, described Brown as making a pattern of “reckless, incendiary, and dangerous statements” that have been made without remorse.

The student noted that Brown has been on paid leave for over 200 days following his public calls for Iran to bomb U.S. military bases.
