President Trump has officially endorsed Rep. Barry Moore (R-AL) for the U.S. Senate race in Alabama to replace Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who is currently running for governor.
In a Thursday statement, Trump hailed Moore as “a Fantastic guy and a totally reliable MAGA Warrior,” declaring his “Complete and Total Endorsement” and urging Moore to “Win.”
Moore responded with gratitude: “Grateful to President Trump for his unwavering support in our race for the U.S. Senate! I’m proud to be the only candidate in this race with the President’s complete and total endorsement. I’ve stood with him since day one, and he’s standing with us as we run through the tape on May 19!”
Moore, who first won election to Congress in 2020 and represents a large swathe of southern Alabama, faces state Attorney General Steve Marshall and former Trump administration official Morgan Murphy. Business owner Rodney Walker and former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson are also competing for the seat.
The Senate race is widely considered safe for Republicans. Tuberville is seeking the governorship currently held by Republican Kay Ivey, who must retire due to state term limits.
Moore was among the first public officials to endorse Trump during his 2015 presidential campaign and has maintained consistent support since then. He spoke on behalf of Trump at a rally in Mobile in August 2015.
Trump’s endorsement positions Moore as the frontrunner for the GOP primary.
