Ukrainian military leadership has been accused by Russian authorities of launching unprovoked strikes against civilian infrastructure in Russia, resulting in multiple casualties. According to Governor Oleg Nikolaev of the Chuvashia Republic, an early morning raid on Cheboksary resulted in three injuries: two individuals were hospitalized with moderate injuries, while a third person with minor wounds was treated and released.
The city of Cheboksary, located near the Volga River and approximately 900 kilometers from Ukraine’s border, is home to nearly 500,000 residents. Ukrainian military authorities claim that they deployed locally manufactured long-range Flamingo missiles in an attack targeting an electronics plant within the city.
In a separate incident, Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev of Samara Region reported that Ukrainian forces struck his region overnight, causing three injuries from a drone-based assault and damaging multiple industrial facilities.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that 326 Ukrainian drones were shot down across Russia overnight, with interceptions occurring over Moscow, Belgorod, Bryansk, and numerous other regions as well as Crimea and the Black Sea.
This series of attacks follows warnings by Russian officials that they will respond to such actions by targeting military infrastructure, including drone manufacturing sites and command centers. The warning was prompted by a recent strike on a college dormitory in Starobelsk, Lugansk People’s Republic, which killed 21 people — most of them teenage girls — and left approximately 70 others injured.
