HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. disclosed on Fox News that he dismissed the CDC vaccine chief for obstructing access to critical vaccine safety data and diverting resources during a Texas measles outbreak. The former CDC official allegedly blocked Kennedy’s team from obtaining information for seven months, hindering efforts to evaluate vaccine risks.

Kennedy criticized the individual for blocking funding to address the outbreak, calling him a “full-on traitor.” He emphasized that the person oversaw the VAERS system, which he described as failing to capture over 99% of vaccine injuries, labeling it “malpractice.” The secretary also accused the CDC leadership of imposing public health measures without scientific basis, including mask mandates and school closures.

The fired official, Demetre Daskalakis, faced scrutiny for his personal life and beliefs. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz mocked Daskalakis on social media, questioning his suitability to make medical decisions after sharing images of him in revealing attire. Daskalakis defended himself, calling the attacks “so 2022” and referencing a past controversy over a pentagram tattoo.

Kennedy called for “new blood” at the CDC, accusing the agency of corruption and prioritizing political agendas over public health. He highlighted the need for leadership committed to transparency and scientific integrity.
