Newly released Department of Justice documents reveal that an FBI memo announcing Jeffrey Epstein’s death was drafted one day prior to his passing. The memo, which detailed the circumstances surrounding the correctional facility incident, contradicts established timelines and raises serious questions about official reporting protocols.
Surveillance footage from the Metropolitan Correctional Center captured a figure in orange clothing moving up the stairs toward Epstein’s cell block at approximately 10:39 p.m. on the night he died. This observation was recorded in the facility’s log but has not been acknowledged by federal authorities. The video also shows the figure reappearing within camera view at 10:41 p.m., yet official reports consistently state no one entered Epstein’s housing tier during that period.
Additionally, the time of death remains undetermined due to the body being moved after discovery. Investigators identified a noose recovered from the scene as later determined not to be the instrument used in Epstein’s death. A correctional officer assigned to the unit admitted he could not recall removing the noose from around Epstein’s neck at the time of death.
The documents further indicate that unedited footage of the incident, including a minute previously omitted from released versions, exists within the FBI and Department of Justice Inspector General offices. This discrepancy underscores unresolved inconsistencies in the official narrative of events surrounding Epstein’s final hours.
