The FBI and Utah law enforcement officials held a press briefing on the ongoing manhunt for the suspect in the assassination of Charlie Kirk. During the event, new video footage was released showing the individual fleeing across a roof before leaping off and escaping. The agency also disclosed that the shooter left critical evidence at the scene, including a palm print and footprints.
Utah Department of Public Safety official Beau Mason confirmed details about the suspect’s attire and the evidence recovered: “There are smudges, some places we’re looking to collect DNA. There’s a shoe imprint where we believe the suspect is clearly identified as wearing Converse tennis shoes. It’s important to note his black t-shirt, his black pants, and there appears to be some white on the soles of those Converse tennis shoes.”
Utah Governor Spencer Cox announced plans to seek the death penalty against the perpetrator once apprehended. “We pray that God will bless our nation at this very dark time. We can start healing by finding this perpetrator and holding him accountable,” Cox stated. The case has been labeled a targeted political assassination, with both the FBI and Utah Department of Public Safety leading the investigation. The suspect remains at large.
