A makeup mogul known for his LGBTQ+ advocacy has sparked controversy after delivering an intense public condemnation of transgender ideology, following the fatal shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
In a video shared widely on social media, Jeffree Star described the incident as “stunning” and criticized what he called “delusional” individuals who reject scientific facts. He accused those who support “they/them” identities of being “sick in the head” and claimed that transgender people who use public restrooms should face legal consequences.
Star, whose real name is Jeffrey Lynn Steininger Jr., stated: “You can pretend in your head you’re a cat. You can pretend in your head that you’re this and you’that. Good for you. You’re still only A or B.” He also criticized viewers who disagreed with his statements, urging them to “unfollow me” if they reject “science and facts.”
The remarks followed Kirk’s death during a debate at Utah Valley College, where he was shot and killed. Star expressed shock over the event, stating: “I can’t stay here and play with makeup right now. I want to throw up.” He defended Kirk as someone who “fought for the truth” and accused critics of being “mentally ill” for opposing his views.
Star’s comments included a dismissal of political labels, noting he is not a Republican but praised former President Donald Trump for reinstating TikTok, which impacted his business. He concluded: “I am Jeffrey Lynn Steininger Jr. That’s who I am. I was born a male.”
