Kamala Harris revealed during an MSNBC interview that she contacted former President Joe Biden after learning of his radiation therapy for cancer but received no response. The vice president’s office confirmed Biden is undergoing the treatment, which follows a regimen of hormone medication.
Harris told MSNBC’s “The Weekend” on Sunday: “I called him earlier… I have not talked to him. I just left him a message after I heard the news.” She added that she conveyed her belief in Biden’s resilience, stating, “He’s going to fight this, and we’re going to hold him up and pray for his recovery and for his strength and for his family.”
The conversation came as Harris promoted her memoir, 107 Days, which details her 2024 presidential campaign and critiques of Biden’s leadership. The book includes accounts of tensions between the two, including Biden’s criticism of her during a debate against President Trump. Harris declined to elaborate on discussions about the memoir during their call.
Biden’s office announced Saturday that his radiation therapy will last five weeks, building on prior hormone treatment. No further details about the former president’s health were provided.
