Diane Keaton, renowned for her iconic roles in “Annie Hall,” “The Godfather,” and “Something’s Gotta Give,” has died at age 79. The actress’s family confirmed her passing in California.

Keaton rose to fame in the 1970s with her role as Kay Adams-Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather” (1972) and its sequel, “The Godfather Part II” (1974), opposite Al Pacino. She also gained critical acclaim for her performance as Annie Hall, the unconventional girlfriend of comic Alvy Singer in Woody Allen’s 1977 film, which earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress.

Her career spanned decades, with notable appearances in “Play It Again, Sam,” “Sleeper,” and “Manhattan.” Keaton remained active on screen into the 2020s, starring in “Book Club” (2018) and its sequel “Poms” (2019), as well as her final film role in “Summer Camp” (2024).

Beyond acting, she was recognized for her work as a writer, director, and photographer. Keaton’s off-screen persona was equally celebrated, marked by her distinctive fashion sense and wit. She is survived by her two children, Dexter and Duke.

Piers Morgan paid tribute, calling her “one of Hollywood’s greatest actresses” and expressing sorrow over her passing. The actress last shared a photo on Instagram in April 2024, featuring her Golden Retriever, Reggie.
