A report claims Luigi Mangione, the man accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City, was assaulted by seven “ladyboys” in Thailand months before the killing. The alleged incident, described as a violent encounter with transgender women in Bangkok, emerged as a new detail in the case.

Mangione, 27, allegedly shared a photo of his injured arm following the altercation, according to texts reviewed by the New York Times. The report highlights his travels across Asia in early 2024, where he discussed healthcare costs and expressed frustration with the U.S. system. During his trip, Mangione befriended soccer player Christian Sacchini and an unidentified companion, eventually isolating himself in Japan’s Mount Omine mountains.

In a recent development, a New York judge dismissed terrorism charges against Mangione, ruling that his actions did not meet the legal threshold for terrorism under state law. The decision leaves him facing a second-degree murder charge for Thompson’s killing but removes the possibility of life without parole.

Mangione’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 1, drawing continued attention from supporters who have rallied behind him, wearing symbols of solidarity. Surveillance footage captured the execution-style shooting of Thompson outside a New York Hilton Midtown event on December 4, 2024. Police noted messages scrawled on ammunition referencing insurance industry tactics.
