A spokesperson for McConnell stated that his condition is positive and he is grateful for the care he received. The senator maintains regular contact with his staff and anticipates returning to Senate business shortly.
This incident follows a pattern of health challenges involving the 83-year-old lawmaker, including multiple falls and episodes of freezing during public appearances. Last October, McConnell suffered a fall on Capitol Hill while responding to questions about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement activities. He also tripped on stairs near the Senate chamber nearly a year ago.
McConnell, who is scheduled to retire from the Senate in January 2027 and has not sought re-election, confirmed his current term will be his final one.
