A Montana city commissioner candidate has been accused of leaving a voicemail for Republican Senator Tim Sheehy containing violent and derogatory remarks. Helena-based Haley McKnight, a Democratic contender for the Helena City Commission, reportedly called Sheehy’s office in July and made inflammatory statements targeting the senator.
The voicemail, obtained by Fox News Digital, begins with McKnight identifying herself as a constituent from Helena. She condemns Sheehy for voting to advance the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” a Republican-backed tax and spending measure. “You just stripped away healthcare for 17 million Americans,” she says in the recording. “I hope that one day you get pancreatic cancer, and it spreads throughout your body so fast that they can’t even treat you for it.”
McKnight’s message escalates further, with personal attacks on Sheehy’s fertility and family. “I hope that your children never forgive you,” she adds. “I hope that you are infertile… You are the worst piece of shit I’ve ever, ever, ever had, uh, the misfortune of looking at.” The voicemail also warns Sheehy not to “meet me on the streets,” according to Sheehy’s office.
Sheehy’s district office confirmed the call was made on July 1, during which McKnight allegedly expressed support for the senator’s death. The incident has sparked outrage among constituents and officials alike.
McKnight, a progressive small business owner and president of Helena Young Professionals, is currently running for a seat on the Helena City Commission. She moved to Montana in 2017 after working as an AmeriCorps Vista member in Butte.
