The attack involved a 40-year-old male who drove his vehicle into the front doors of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints during a service. After crashing through the entrance, he opened fire inside, injuring nine people and killing one.

Authorities reported that the shooter intentionally started a fire at the church, which quickly escalated into a large blaze. Police stated they believe additional victims may be inside the building once it is safe to enter. The gunman was killed by officers during the response.
