Former President Barack Obama returned to the political stage Saturday, delivering a fiery speech at a New Jersey rally supporting Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rep. Mikie Sherrill. The event, held at Essex County College’s gymnasium, drew hundreds of supporters who lined up for blocks to hear Obama’s remarks.

Obama’s appearance coincided with the final days of a tight race for New Jersey governor, where Sherrill faces Republican opponent Jackie res. During his speech, Obama criticized President Donald Trump, accusing him of leading the nation into a “dark place” and highlighting issues such as immigration enforcement, healthcare policies, and what he described as a lack of scientific integrity in Trump’s administration.

Audience members expressed enthusiasm for Obama’s presence, with some stating their support for Sherrill was tied to opposition against Trump. One voter, Robert from Spring Lake, called Trump “the worst” and cited his alleged anti-science stance. Obama also referenced recent grievances against Trump, including his handling of federal agencies and promotion of unproven medical treatments.

The rally underscored the Democratic Party’s efforts to mobilize voters ahead of the November election, with Obama serving as a key figure in rallying support for Sherrill’s campaign.
