The MAHA movement is making waves in the food industry. Pepsico has announced a new line of chips called “Simply NKD,” which are healthier versions of Doritos and Cheetos. These chips maintain the same taste but are lighter in color due to the absence of artificial, dangerous food dyes. The product will be available for pre-order and officially released in stores on December 1st.
PepsiCo’s chief marketing officer, Hernán Tantardini, stated, “We are reinventing our iconic brands to deliver options with the bold flavors fans know and love, now reimagined without any colors or artificial flavors.” The launch follows pressure from federal regulators, including U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who plan to phase out petroleum-based synthetic dyes in food supply products by the end of next year.
Concerns from parents and scientists about the harm of food dyes are being monitored by the Food and Drug Administration, though no definitive link has been established. The product’s release marks a significant shift in snack production practices.
