A shooter opened fire at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday, resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the incident, stating, “There was a shooting this morning at the Dallas @ICEgov Field Office. Details are still emerging but we can confirm there were multiple injuries and fatalities. The shooter is deceased by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.” She emphasized the need to address the violence against ICE personnel, urging, “Please pray for the victims and their families.”

Preliminary reports indicate the shooter may have acted as a “possible sniper,” according to acting ICE Director Todd Lyons, who noted three individuals were injured and hospitalized. Lyons added, “We have three individuals that are down at this time, we’re not sure on their condition.” NoICE officers were reported injured in the attack, as stated by Deputy Director Madison Sheahan.

This incident marks at least the third targeted gunfire attack on an ICE or Customs and Border Protection facility in Texas this year. On July 4, a coordinated assault on the Prairieland Detention Center near Fort Worth left a police officer wounded but survived. A separate attack in McAllen earlier this month resulted in injuries to two officers and a Border Patrol employee. In August, authorities arrested a man who claimed to have a bomb at the same Dallas ICE facility.
