FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed that Tyler Robinson, the alleged killer of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, has remained silent during interrogations and has not confessed to authorities. Patel’s statement comes as investigators continue to seek clarity on the motive behind the shooting.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox, a Republican, confirmed that Robinson, 22, has not cooperated with law enforcement but noted that individuals close to him, including his roommate and partner, are assisting the investigation. Cox previously claimed Robinson was “deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology,” citing information from the suspect’s associates.
Kirk, 31, was fatally shot during an open-air event at Utah Valley University organized by Turning Point USA, the group he co-founded. The incident occurred on Wednesday, with Robinson taken into custody 33 hours later. Over 20 individuals were reportedly part of Robinson’s Discord chat, according to Patel.
Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the investigation or the suspect’s motivations.
