Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of killing Charlie Kirk, reportedly threatened suicide after confessing to his father. His father, a veteran police officer, recognized him from photos released by authorities and confronted him. Robinson admitted to the crime but initially refused to surrender, telling his father he would rather commit suicide than turn himself in. The father sought help from their family’s youth pastor, who also serves as a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force officer. The pastor contacted law enforcement, leading to Robinson’s detention by U.S. Marshals and subsequent FBI custody. Law enforcement took his suicide threat seriously, as evidenced by his mugshot wearing a “suicide gown” designed to prevent self-harm. A guest post statement urged keeping him alive long enough to execute him.
