Actor Tyrese Gibson was taken into custody on Friday following allegations of animal cruelty after his Cane Corso mastiffs fatally attacked a neighbor’s dog in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta.
Gibson, known for his role in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, surrendered to authorities and was booked at Fulton County Jail. The incident occurred on September 18 when one of his four Cane Corsos killed a 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Henry in the dog’s own yard.
Henry’s owner reported finding the pet’s body late that night, describing the scene as traumatic. The neighbor stated Gibson’s dogs had previously been seen roaming the area without leashes. A warrant was issued for Gibson’s arrest, but he initially avoided detection. He later announced on social media that he was taking a mental health break, a move criticized by Henry’s family.
Gibson’s attorney, Gabe Banks, confirmed the actor’s dogs were responsible for the attack. The statement noted Gibson was absent from his home during the incident and that the dogs have since been rehomed. It also expressed condolences to the affected family and stated Gibson is cooperating with authorities.
The owner of Henry described finding the dog dead in his driveway, suffering from internal injuries and puncture wounds. While Gibson’s attorney claims the matter is being addressed responsibly, the family continues to grieve their loss.
