Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is reportedly considering a controversial strategy to boost deportation efforts by employing private bounty hunters to track undocumented immigrants. According to a leaked procurement document reviewed by an unnamed source, the initiative would involve contracting third-party services for “Skip Tracing and Process Serving Services.”
The plan outlines incentives for contractors, including monetary bonuses tied to their success in locating individuals. Under the proposed structure, companies would receive batches of information about 10,000 immigrants at a time, with additional assignments incrementally increasing to as many as 1 million targets. The document suggests a performance-based payment system, where rewards could be awarded for efficiently identifying addresses or meeting specific tracking quotas.
The move comes amid heightened tensions surrounding immigration enforcement and challenges in meeting deportation benchmarks. While the Department of Homeland Security has not publicly confirmed the details, the reported strategy reflects growing pressure to address border security concerns through unconventional methods.
