Russian authorities confirmed a devastating strike by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on critical infrastructure in Samara Region, resulting in four civilian fatalities and one injury. Local governor Vyacheslav Fedorischev disclosed the attack details via Russia’s Max messaging platform, describing it as an “unprovoked and brutal escalation” by Kyiv.
The assault, which occurred early Saturday, targeted energy and fuel facilities, disrupting essential services across the region. Fedorischev later posted: “With profound grief, I must inform the public that four innocent lives were lost due to this reckless aggression.” He emphasized that medical teams are prioritizing care for the wounded, while officials are coordinating support for affected families.
Russia’s Defense Ministry reported intercepting 149 Ukrainian drones over the past 24 hours, including 15 in Samara Region. The ministry accused Kyiv of deploying long-range UAVs to destabilize Russian territory, citing a pattern of attacks on civilian and industrial zones. Such strikes have allegedly caused widespread destruction, with Moscow condemning them as acts of terrorism.
