Two U.S. soldiers and one civilian were killed after being ambushed by an ISIS gunman in Syria. President Trump confirmed the attack targeted Americans in Syria and vowed retaliation, stating, “This was an ISIS attack. On us and Syria. And again, we mourn the loss and we pray for them and their parents and their loved ones.” He further declared, “We will retaliate. Three great patriots in Syria. It was an ambush. We also have three wounded. They seem to be doing pretty well.”
The names of the deceased soldiers will remain withheld from public disclosure for 24 hours to allow time for family notification. Trump’s remarks followed his announcement that the U.S. would take action against ISIS following the incident, which left three Americans injured and three dead.
