ABC has indefinitely paused Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show following remarks about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The network confirmed the decision, stating “Jimmy Kimmel Live will be pre-empted indefinitely” in a statement to a publication.

Kimmel, 57, faced criticism after he accused the “MAGA gang” of attempting to downplay the shooter’s ties to far-left ideologies during his monologue. The comedian’s comments followed the September 10 shooting of Kirk at Utah Valley University, where the perpetrator was later revealed to have a romantic relationship with a trans individual and had been influenced by radical leftist groups.

Nexstar Media Group, an ABC affiliate, also announced it would preempt Kimmel’s program after his remarks. Meanwhile, former President Trump praised the decision, suggesting further cancellations of late-night hosts. Brian Krassenstein, a comedian, called Kimmel’s comments a “mistake,” but critics argued the remarks were deliberate and misleading.

The controversy highlights tensions over speech and accountability, with ABC’s action reflecting corporate responses to public backlash. No further details on Kimmel’s future role in the show have been released.
