Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) accused Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of adopting “very liberal” positions on key issues and urged others to disregard her remarks, according to reports. Cruz claimed that when officials criticize Israel, their broader policy views shift toward progressive stances. He cited Greene as an example, stating she now supports “massive government spending and taxes and open borders and amnesty.” Cruz advised against focusing on Greene’s statements, adding, “You will very quickly see every other policy out of their mouth become very, very liberal.”
Cruz’s comments followed Sen. Bernie Moreno’s (R-Ohio) call for Greene to cease criticizing House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and instead propose legislative solutions. Moreno urged Greene to “put pen to paper” and present a bill if she is passionate about issues like healthcare policy.
Greene recently criticized Johnson for withholding alternative plans to the Affordable Care Act during a conference call, accusing him of failing to provide concrete proposals to GOP members. She highlighted Johnson’s lack of transparency, noting he referred to “pages of policy ideas” but did not share specific details with Republican lawmakers.
Earlier this month, Cruz labeled Greene “crazy” after she stated she was “not suicidal” on social media. Greene later clarified her comments, emphasizing her faith in God and rejecting claims that she targeted Jewish people. She condemned Cruz’s remarks as false and reiterated her commitment to opposing foreign influence and special interests, regardless of backlash from Republican allies.
