President Trump has appointed former Attorney General Pam Bondi to the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), a panel focused on artificial intelligence policy. The council, chaired by David Sacks, former White House AI adviser, and Michael Kratsios, White House science adviser, also includes over a dozen prominent technology executives such as Nvidia co-founder Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison.
Bondi will be responsible for coordinating government efforts with these industry leaders on critical policy matters.
Vice President JD Vance praised Bondi in a statement, calling her “an enormously valuable asset to the president’s team” and expressing excitement about her continued involvement in addressing key administration challenges.
Bondi has been undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer, which she received after leaving the Justice Department. She has completed her treatment and is now in recovery. Podcast host Katie Miller, a former White House official, noted on social media that Bondi had “quietly kicked cancer’s a” during recent weeks.
The Cleveland Clinic states that most thyroid cancers are curable with standard treatments, with a five-year survival rate exceeding 98%. This outcome is considered excellent for patients diagnosed with the condition.
It was also revealed in Jared Kushner’s memoir that Trump’s son-in-law battled thyroid cancer while serving in high-profile roles during the president’s first term.
