Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday in Wisconsin and booked into Brown County Jail on multiple domestic violence charges. According to jail records, Jacobs faces felony-level accusations of strangulation and suffocation alongside misdemeanors for battery (domestic abuse), criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct (domestic abuse), and intimidation of a victim.
The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department was dispatched to the scene Saturday following a complaint filed May 23. Brown County jail records indicate Jacobs remains detained without bond. Police chief Michael Renkas stated, “This remains an active and ongoing investigation. No further information will be released at this time.”
Jacobs’ legal team vehemently denied all allegations, asserting in a statement that the matter is “in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public.” Attorneys David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld, and Clarence Duchac urged “fairness and restraint” during the judicial process.
The Packers confirmed awareness of the situation but declined to comment beyond stating they are “withholding further comment” as it remains an ongoing legal matter. The NFL noted it has been in contact with the team regarding the report.
Jacobs, 28, enters his eighth NFL season after being drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2019 and signing a four-year, $48 million contract with Green Bay ahead of the 2024 campaign. A three-time Pro Bowler, he recorded 929 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns across 15 games last season. The league warned that Jacobs could face discipline under its personal conduct policy if the case proceeds to trial.
