President Trump made his terms for any Iran deal crystal clear on Friday during a White House Situation Room meeting. The president outlined that Iran must agree to permanently abandon nuclear weapons and bombs, the Strait of Hormuz must be immediately opened without tolls to allow unrestricted shipping traffic in both directions, all underwater mines must be removed or detonated, ships trapped in the Strait due to an ongoing naval blockade would be allowed to return home, enriched nuclear material referred to as “Nuclear Dust” must be unearthed and destroyed by the United States in collaboration with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and no money will be exchanged until further notice.
The meeting lasted approximately two hours. Following the session, officials stated that Trump had not yet made a final determination on extending the fragile ceasefire by 60 days, and Iranian officials confirmed that the agreement had not been finalized.
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf issued a defiant statement, asserting that Iran uses military actions to secure concessions rather than diplomatic dialogue.
