A Cape Cod resident has gone viral after delivering a blistering speech at his local city council meeting, in which he condemned the treatment of law-abiding citizens as “indentured servants” by foreign nationals who exploit public resources.
Andrew DeRogers, born and raised on Cape Cod, stated that for 40 years he has obeyed the law and paid taxes but has never received benefits such as Social Security or health insurance. He criticized the system of allowing undocumented immigrants to access healthcare while he is punished for his inability to afford it.
“I am sick to effing death of paying for such bullshit, and I’m sick to death of being lectured about compassion, about patience and understanding,” DeRogers told council members. “I have lived here all my life, and I have been required for all 40 years of that life to obey the law and follow the rules.”
In his speech, DeRogers accused authorities of trafficking foreign nationals into communities for purposes of census data, political power, and taxes. He also noted that when traveling abroad, he was subject to extensive documentation requirements. The speech has gone viral online.
