Corey Lewandowski, a senior adviser at the Department of Homeland Security and former campaign manager for President Trump, has hinted at a possible run for governor in New Hampshire. The remarks came after he wrote on social media, “Everyone says being a governor is the best job in politics. I agree.” Lewandowski, who served as campaign manager during Trump’s 2016 bid and as an adviser in 2024, also shared similar sentiments in a text message, stating, “Governor is the only job in politics I would ever consider giving up what I am currently doing for.”

Lewandowski’s potential candidacy coincides with political developments in New Hampshire, where Governor Kelly Ayotte, a Republican, was inaugurated in January 2025. The state’s two-year gubernatorial term means any campaign could begin soon. Reports suggest the White House is considering challenges to Ayotte’s leadership, as her resistance to redistricting has drawn scrutiny from GOP officials. Lewandowski, who resides in Windham, New Hampshire, has not confirmed whether he has discussed the matter with administration leaders.

His role at the Department of Homeland Security has sparked internal debates. Initially appointed as a temporary special governmental employee, his extended tenure and influence over contracts exceeding $100,000 have raised questions. Lewandowski is listed as a chief adviser to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and frequently appears alongside her at events.
