More details have emerged regarding a fatal shooting at a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility on Wednesday. A sniper opened fire, killing one detainee and injuring two others. The shooter has been identified as Joshua Jahn.

FBI Director Kash Patel revealed that the suspect left a handwritten note expressing intent to instill fear in ICE agents. The note stated, “Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, ‘is there a sniper with AP rounds on that roof?’” referring to armor-piercing bullets.

Patel disclosed that Jahn conducted multiple searches on ballistics information and the “Charlie Kirk Shot Video” between September 23-24. He also searched apps tracking ICE agents’ locations from August 19-24. Additionally, Jahn downloaded a document titled “Dallas County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management,” which includes a list of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) facilities.

Investigations indicate a high degree of pre-attack planning by Jahn, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The FBI has been analyzing devices, data, and writings recovered from the scene and Jahn’s residence. Updates will be provided as further information becomes available.
