The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed a staffer for Democrat Senator Tammy Duckworth allegedly posed as a lawyer to release an illegal immigrant. According to a letter by ICE, the staffer claimed to be the attorney of Jose Ismeal Ayuzo Sandoval, a 40-year-old illegal immigrant with multiple DUI convictions. The staffer entered an ICE facility in St. Louis, Illinois, on Oct. 29, claiming to be the attorney and seeking access to the detainee. He obtained a G-28 form, which allows an attorney to represent a client, but tried to submit it without Sandoval’s signature. The letter states that four days later, a Suarez Law Office in Collinsville filed a G-28 electronically without the signature, suggesting collaboration. ICE could not verify York was an attorney, and the agency became suspicious of the incident. The letter requests answers from Duckworth’s office regarding York’s employment, whether he knowingly lied on government documents, and if other staff members were aware. Lyons urged all members to stop political games that put law enforcement at risk.
