It is now being reported that an attempted ambush targeting Alina Habba occurred last night. The attack took place at the office of acting US Attorney Habba, and according to the DOJ she was the intended target. Information is sparse at this time. The DOJ is reporting that the attacker damaged property inside the US Attorney’s Office before fleeing the scene after unsuccessfully attempting to confront Habba. Though she was unhurt, there are no details at this time regarding whether or not the attacker had any contact or exchange words with Habba during the incident.

Alina Habba shared the following statement to her X account a short time ago after the AG Pam Bondi announced the attack had taken place, resolutely determined not to be intimidated: The suspect is currently NOT IN CUSTODY as far as I can tell. But the FBI is actively seeking him according to Director Patel: He allegedly attempted to gain access to the building previously while wielding a baseball bat, according to this report from CNN: A person ransacked the New Jersey federal prosecutor’s office building on Wednesday after they were denied a meeting with US Attorney Alina Habba, according to two sources familiar with the matter. The person was sitting in a waiting room outside Habba’s office when they were turned away, the sources said, and they proceeded to “smash” things in the area. The person had tried to get into the US attorney’s office building earlier in the day, the sources said, but was denied entry because they were carrying a baseball bat. When the person returned later on, they were not carrying the bat and were allowed to enter, the sources said.

As stated, the suspect is currently being sought with the FBI leading a manhunt. It does not appear at this time that he has been identified or caught. Here’s the breaking report Fox News put out as the news broke, confirming those details as well as the report that Alina Habba was indeed the intended target of the attack: With the identity of the attacker still a mystery — or at least not being released publicly at this time — the motive remains uncertain, as well. But it is noteworthy that Habba is currently in the middle of multiple high-profile cases. And that includes the case against a US Congresswoman who was part of the assault on federal officers outside an ICE facility several months ago — as reported by The Hill: The Justice Department is on the hunt for someone who attempted to “confront” Alina Habba, the acting U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey, after entering her office. Habba is a close ally of Trump and one of his former personal attorneys. After briefly serving in the White House, she was tapped to be the lead federal prosecutor in New Jersey. Habba is leading the prosecution of Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.), accusing her of attacking law enforcement officers with her forearms during a chaotic scene that broke out as Democrats attempted to visit an immigration detention center. A judge ruled Thursday that the case can proceed, rejecting McIver’s claims she is being vindictively prosecuted.

There is currently no further details being release by either the DOJ or FBI regarding the attack, motive, or any specifics on what damage the assailant caused. This is a developing story — we’ll bring you more details as they become available.
