The text messages between alleged assassin Tyler Robinson and his live-in boyfriend have been disclosed, revealing a chilling account of his actions. In one exchange, the roommate reacts with shock to a note, asking, “What?????????????????? You’re joking, right????” Robinson responds, “I am still ok my love, but am stuck in Orem for a little while longer yet. Shouldn’t be long until I can come home, but I gotta grab my rifle still.” He adds, “To be honest I had hoped to keep this secret till I died of old age. I am sorry to involve you.”

The roommate presses, “You weren’t the one who did it, right????” and later asks, “I thought they caught the person?” Robinson replies, “No, they grabbed some crazy old dude, then interrogated someone in similar clothing.” He details his plan to retrieve a rifle from a drop point but mentions the area was locked down. “It’s quiet, almost enough to get out, but there’s one vehicle lingering,” he writes.

Robinson claims he grew tired of “his hatred” and states, “Some hate can’t be negotiated out.” He expresses concern about retrieving the rifle, noting, “I had enough of his hatred. … If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence.” He later admits, “I’m worried what my old man would do if I didn’t bring back grandpa’s rifle.”

The messages also reference his father’s obsession with the rifle, including a mention of a $2,000 scope and his dad’s demand for photos. Robinson adds, “Since Trump got into office [my dad] has been pretty diehard MAGA.” He concludes by stating, “I’m gonna turn myself in willingly,” urging his boyfriend to avoid media interactions.

The Utah County DA later read the messages on live television, expressing disbelief at their content.
