Several NFL teams have drawn criticism after opting not to hold pre-game tributes for Charlie Kirk, the American conservative activist who was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University last week.

During Sunday’s games, the New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, and Dallas Cowboys observed a moment of silence for Kirk before their matches. However, the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, and Minnesota Vikings did not participate in any tribute.

Kirk, 31, a father of two, was killed during an outdoor event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. His alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, 22, is expected to face aggravated murder charges following his arrest Thursday.

While some teams chose to honor Kirk, others faced scrutiny for their decision not to acknowledge his legacy. The Pittsburgh Steelers were highlighted by some fans as having conducted the most respectful tribute.

The controversy has sparked debate over how sports organizations respond to high-profile deaths, with critics questioning the absence of recognition from certain franchises.
