Actor Robert Redford has died at the age of 89. Redford passed away at his home in Utah on Monday, Tuesday morning. His publicist Cindi Berger, Chairman and CEO of Rogers and Cowan PMK, confirmed the death in a statement. “Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah—the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved. He will be missed greatly,” Berger said. The family has requested privacy.
Redford was known for starring roles in films such as “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and “All the President’s Men.” He also directed award-winning movies like “Ordinary People” and “A River Runs Through It.” Reports indicate Redford died in his sleep at his home outside Provo. No cause of death was disclosed.
Throughout his career, Redford earned recognition for his work, including a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for 1973’s The Sting, the Best Director award for 1980’s Ordinary People, and another Best Director nomination for 1994’s Quiz Show.
