Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has criticized the NFL’s decision to name Puerto Rican performer Bad Bunny as the headliner for the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show, calling the choice “sucks” and vowing that ICE agents will be present at the event.
Noem told conservative podcaster Benny Johnson that the NFL would face consequences for its decision, stating, “They won’t be able to sleep at night because they don’t know what they believe.” She emphasized the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at the February 8 game in Santa Clara, California, asserting that the Department of Homeland Security is responsible for ensuring safety.
The secretary added, “We’ll enforce the law,” and urged attendees to be law-abiding Americans. Bad Bunny, whose music predominantly features Spanish lyrics, has avoided touring the U.S. due to fears of ICE raids at his concerts. The Super Bowl halftime show will mark his sole performance in the country next year.
Noem’s remarks come amid heightened scrutiny over border security and immigration enforcement, with her office confirming ICE presence at major public events.
