A tour bus belonging to rapper Ice Cube was set ablaze in downtown Portland on Tuesday, with authorities investigating the incident as an intentional act. The fire occurred around 10 a.m. at Southwest Broadway and Oak Street, according to Portland Fire & Rescue spokesperson Rick Graves, who confirmed the blaze was under investigation.
The vehicle, identified as part of Ice Cube’s tour, suffered damage to its front passenger tire. Tresa Sanders, founder of the public relations firm TreMedia, verified the bus belonged to the artist. While the cause remains undetermined, officials are reviewing security footage from nearby cameras to gather evidence.
Ice Cube addressed the incident in a statement to KGW, stating, “I’m not taking this as a personal attack. A coward like that would burn anybody’s property that was out there at the time.” The rapper declined to speculate on potential motives.
Local authorities have not disclosed suspects or confirmed whether the fire was targeted. The incident has sparked speculation about possible connections to extremist groups, though no official allegations have been made.
Portland Fire & Rescue emphasized its commitment to resolving the case, with investigators canvassing the area for additional information. No injuries were reported.
