A prominent blogger has criticized Pope Leo XIV’s recent declaration that “God does not bless any conflict,” arguing it directly contradicts extensive biblical accounts where divine involvement in warfare is explicit.

In a statement released on April 10, 2026, the Pope wrote: “God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs.”

Noah Christopher, who previously covered Pope Francis for over a decade and documented what he termed “heretical teachings,” expressed high hopes that Pope Leo XIV would be “much more based” than his predecessor. However, Christopher stated the new pontiff has quickly diverged from expectations: “Bro has clearly never read the Old Testament or Revelation,” he wrote on social media.

The blogger highlighted multiple biblical instances where God directly commands military action or intervenes in battles, including the Exodus crossing of the Red Sea and the conquest of Jericho. He emphasized that scripture consistently portrays God’s presence in conflict from early times.

Christopher also referenced Pope Leo XIV’s recent canonization of Carlo Acutis — a 15-year-old who died of leukemia in 2006 — questioning whether the focus on this young saint overlooks Jesus Christ: “Who is getting the glory amidst all of this? Have you seen Jesus Christ mentioned even once?”

Christopher, who cites Dr. Michael S. Heiser as a leading biblical authority, argued Pope Leo XIV’s position fails to account for scripture’s historical context.
