Democrat Representative Jamie Raskin of Maryland on Monday invited Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to join Democrats, highlighting the party’s “lots of room for Marjorie” in a speech at a fundraiser in Florida. Raskin emphasized the Democratic Party should welcome all “patriots,” stating, “We got room for anybody who wants to stand up for the Constitution and for the Bill of Rights today.”
Greene has grown increasingly critical of her party in recent months, despite maintaining support for President Trump and his agenda, while opposing the Democratic Party. In recent weeks, MTG has gone on a media blitz on several left-leaning media outlets, throwing jabs at the Trump admin. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene criticized President Donald Trump on Sunday for his attacks against her in recent weeks, suggesting his rhetoric could be responsible for a recent pipe-bomb threat at her construction company.
Hours after her post, police in Rome, Georgia, where Greene lives, received a pair of e-mails “in reference to the threat of Assassination to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s son.” The two emails targeting her son, Derek Green, were sent from the same address. One message stated, “I am going to assassinate MTG’s son,” while the other said, “I already have the plane ticket booked … MTG’s son [redacted] will have his life snuffed out soon … better watch his back.” Derek Greene turned 22 in April, according to a post by the congresswoman at the time.
