Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky stated that a COVID-19 whistleblower set to testify publicly is an “active CIA employee who will assert that the intelligence community has covered up the origins of the pandemic for years.”

According to Paul, the whistleblower claims the virus originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China, and that U.S. government-funded research there led to its escape.

“This whistleblower will confirm that this was known for a long time,” Paul said, referring to intelligence officials who have allegedly concealed the truth. “The government was involved not only in funding this research but also in trying to obscure the truth.”

Last week, Paul revived efforts to indict former White House chief medical advisor Anthony Fauci over allegations of lying under oath regarding NIH funding for bat coronavirus research in Wuhan. With the statute of limitations for Fauci expiring Monday and no action taken by the Department of Justice, Paul announced he will hear the whistleblower’s testimony before the Senate Homeland Security committee this Wednesday. His office stated that the testimony would “expose the cover-up over the origins of COVID-19 and the lack of transparency from the federal government.”

Paul emphasized that pandemic policies guided by Fauci were a mistake the nation should not repeat. “This isn’t just looking back for the sake of it,” Paul said. “We need to learn what went wrong so we don’t repeat this kind of lockdown mentality.”

Paul noted that his former chief medical advisor’s closest adviser, Dr. Morens, was recently indicted for “deliberately concealing information and falsifying records” in an effort to suppress alternative theories about the pandemic’s origins. In a recent statement, Paul wrote: “For years, I warned that Fauci and his inner circle buried the truth about Wuhan. Now his closest adviser has been indicted.”

Paul added: “Fauci lied to Congress under oath. The statute of limitations expires in five days. Will the DOJ finally indict Fauci?” He stated he had sent multiple criminal referrals to the Department of Justice regarding these allegations.
