The U.S. Treasury Department is exploring the possibility of issuing a one-dollar coin featuring former President Donald Trump to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026, according to internal discussions. A draft design, overseen by the Office of the U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach, showcases Trump’s profile on one side of the coin, while the reverse side displays him with a clenched fist in front of an American flag and the phrase “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT.”

A Treasury spokesperson stated, “Under the historic leadership of President Donald J. Trump, our nation is entering its 250th anniversary stronger, more prosperous, and better than ever before.” The proposal aligns with a 2020 bipartisan law signed by Trump, which permits the Treasury Secretary to issue one-dollar coins during 2026, provided they reflect the semiquincentennial theme. Beach noted that updates would follow once “the obstructionist shutdown of the United States government is over.”

Separately, Republican lawmakers have introduced a bill to feature Charlie Kirk, founder of TPUSA, on silver dollar coins. Reps. Abe Hamadeh and August Pfluger proposed the measure, which would limit minting to 400,000 units. The legislators argued Kirk’s “transformational impact” warrants recognition alongside historical figures, calling him “the youngest American ever immortalized on legal U.S. currency.”

The Treasury Department has authority to approve such designs without congressional approval.
